Mary's Review
Willy, poor little duck, is hard of hearing so when Mother Hen tells him a tornado is coming, he has no clue what a "Nado" is. He only knows that if Mother Hen is worried about it, about him, and about everyone else then he should be to. Mother Hen had one problem...someone was missing. Where was Maebelle? Maebelle, a vain cow, was out showing off her new hat. Someone had to find her. Willy takes on the job and sets off to find and bring Maebelle to safety. Find out what happens when this little duck without thought for himself, puts himself in danger to help someone else.
I love this little book. No matter how different we are, no matter what difficulties we have in life, we can always do whatever we if we put our minds to it.
The illustrations are adorable.
I recommend this book for ages 4-8.

Maebelle hat Willy Series Book 2 edition by Rita Hestand Children eBooks Reviews
I read this book on my to my 5 year old grand-daughter. Although her interest wavered at times, she seemed to like it. I will keep it on my to see if she asks for repeats.
The story could have been helped a little if the animals were given descriptions instead of just names, for example "Willy, the baby duckling." I didn't get the idea that Willy was hard of hearing, simply a child who misunderstands. And who is Mo? A dog?
I really liked the formatting of this book. The font is normal so it can be changed. The illustrations can be enlarged to cover the screen. This is a definite improvement over some other children's books I have downloaded for .
It could use just a few improvements, but I still give it 5 stars.
The story was good, but the pictures were very, very small. I didn't find out until late in the story that Willy was a duck. I never did figure out what kind of animal "ole Mo" was! My guess would be he's a dog, because he whined. I'm guessing Socks is a cat, since she lazily stretched out in front of Willy. Also, who is this Otis that gave Maebelle the hat?
The grammar and punctuation leaves a lot to be desired. Some sentences are worded very poorly; others are run-on sentences. Several sentences either need more punctuation such as commas and/or semi-colons to help them flow better. Or, they need to be split into separate sentences. One sentence had a period instead of a question mark, and another one had no punctuation. Willy's name was misspelled at least once also. Perhaps those last three things were caused by the person that converted it to digital format, though.
Because the words were not printed on the pictures in this book, the story can be read to the child by the tablet via the Text-to-Speech function. However, I don't believe it pronounces "Maebelle" and "Nado" correctly. That's the downfall in using Text-to-Speech. (NOTE I am using a Fire HD.)

The story was really cute about a duck and a barnyard full of animals facing a tornado.
Some things could have been better defined, like I went back to the beginning of the story to figure out, "Now was Willy a duck or
a chick?" I didn't see it in the first few sentences. So then I thought I'd look closer at the pics. But they were too small, and I couldn't enlarge them on my tablet. The cover image is big enough, but Willy isn't in the cover image, although he's the main focus of the story.
And at first, when they said Maebelle was missing, I thought she was one of the chicks. So a little better definition and/or better images to help the flow of the story and eliminate the confusion.
None of that kept me from liking the story, though.
Very cute.
